Default Replacing the lights behind my dials!!

    Hi,

I want to replace the lights behind the dials of my 306 XSi. At the moment I have a horrible orange colour.

I just ordered a replacement dial kit and I would like to change the colour of the lights 2! Any suggestions?

Agreed Deka. I quite like the orange dials with the white needles. But if i were to change it, i'd change the numbers to a electric blue, like the VW Golf/Falcon XR6 has..that looks pretty nice too.

You can change the coulour, taking out the Instrument cluster is actually quite hard.
..... you need to undo the spedo cable from the engine bay side of the bulck head, then carefully remove it internally.(im assumig you already have a Torx set). Even if you do change the colour, your needles will not look right as they are tinted and will clash/mix with the new colour you use.
I myself thougt about this a while ago, when i had an Alpine CD player, which had a blue and white display, so i thought about going to a blue colour, with 2v (and in-line resistor) blue LED's.... but too expensive and woud just look taky really. -chris

.....in London. No idea, do you guys ave Radio Shack? but they are called hi-output LED, they are clear when not powered, but glow to the colour you choose. Also the have a general voltage drop of only 2volts, so each individual one will a dropping resistor slodered in series with the kathode pin.
This resitor you will need to also buy from the same electronics store, ask the counter what ohms size you will need, get atleast 1/4 watt rating, or they will burn out quickly, make sure you mention its for 12V DC car power.-chris

ps, i hope you know what you're getting into, you also might aswell do the dash too, so atleast its consistent.

Thanks for all your help on this. I found this website:

    http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/

They are specialists in replacement bulbs for car dashboards They state that they have different colour LEDs that come already soldiered with a built in resistor for all cars.

BLK206 has a setup on his 206 XT that allows you to change the instrument lighting between a few colours. It's quite interesting and the instruments all look original.

Yeah thats correct thanks Justin, they are EL Dials that i got from Autoparis. They are white dials that sit over the exisiting cluster, and you can press a switch i have in the dash to change them between three different shades of blue and green.
