Default 306 Cab radiator fans and coolant

Only the RHS fan is running.

I've had the grille off to get the relays out, all 3 check OK with 12V supply and meter.

Metering the relay sockets out shows working fan to be low resitance but faulty fan about 1k ohms. Confident about pins and readings as both fans generate Volts when flicked over.

I'm assuming worn or stuck brushes.

Question is how do I get the fan assemply out? What needs to be removed?

On the coolant, has anyone noticed any difference in engine operating temp with different coolants and concentrations?

Take the radiator out and the thermo fans will come out easy

Easiest way to remove the fans is to remove the bumper. They have a nut and bolt set up holding them on (not a captive out) so you need access to the front and back. And pull the fan blade off

Finally got around to fixing the fan.

Removed front bumper to get access. Don't think fan assembly will come out from the front but was able to remove offending motor.

Removed fan from motor (left hand thread). Tilted back radiator and condensor, slipped a piece of carboard between condensor and fans to protect condenser, just enough room to get a 1/4 in drive 10mm socket held in small multi-grips on the nuts at the back. Motor has a moulded connector at the bottom with two spade lugs, just plugs into connector on plastic support frame.

Motor tested OK, cleaned contacts and, both fans work as they should now.

The two electrical problems I've had (fuel pump was other) were contact problems, worth keeping in mind for next electrical failure.
