    Icon5 205 Si NON TECHNICAL question

    does anyone know what the thickness (ie diameter) is of the front arb (anti roll bar)? i know the GTi is 17mm but not sure about the Si.

    Non Technical answer:- This was posted a couple of weeks ago. see post 21 November "Wanted: 205 gti swaybar" It might help.

    See attached. GTi and Rallye are 17mm, the rest are either 20, 22 or 23mm. The last thing you want on a 205 is big bar at the front. Attached Thumbnails

    pretty sure si are 23mm.

    These are not interchangeable with the GTi, entirely different front end design.
    Also, because of the way the GTi bar is mounted it will be a lot more effective the Si bar, so smaller size doesn't mean it is less effective.
    The best thing I ever did to my rally car (Si with GTi suspension) was to remove the front ARB.
    Mind you the spring rate at the front is now 185 lbs.
    This by the way is about the highest you can go with standard strut bodies, if the spring was shorter and stiffer it wouldn't have any preload.

    thanks for your replies.

    FWIW, the 309 has a 21mm front arb and the bushes are NLA. i was asking about the 205 Si arb diameter to see if the bushes are suitable to fit on the 309.
