    Default WTD# 406 Manual help

    Hi All,

    Advertisement


    Dose anybody have a manual for a 406 diesel 1998 or just the diagram for the fan/drive belt.
    my wife's 406 through the belt and now i don't know which way to put the new belt on and because i live 300km from the nearest mechanic i have to do it myself. you can email me at [email protected]

    A google search for "406 hdi drive belt diagram" has revealed this (not sure on the dates) among many other pictures:



    It appears to be from an AutoData source or similar.

    I remember that the 406 stdt was different to all the rest and very hard to get right. I took a photo last time to get it right and tried to upload it for you, to find I must have deleted it. Sorry I couldn't help as much as I hoped.

    Thanks for the help. mine is the 2.1lt 98 model diesel and by the look of the diagram it is for the 2.0lt i wonder if mine is the same as the 405 srdt might be same pattern but smaller engine, any thoughts from anybody

    Did I hear you say NO already. 'Tis in the Haynes but I am not wise enough to put the picks up for you.Surely someone will assist.

    And an Austin 1800

    Ok then, now that we've established you have an XUD11 motor, I suspect the alternator and aircon is via a separate accessory belt.

    This means this link should help:

    XUD11 Timing belt

    It's for an XM, however I suspect its hydraulic pump is similarly driven by the accessory belt or its own dedicated pump belt.

    I suspect you are in for some drama regarding timing the diesel pump, but unfortunately I have nothing to offer in that regard.
