Default 407 MFD has gone to heaven

As the title says, my MFD on my 407 has finally died to the point where it now only works in sub zero temperature conditions and I don't want to put up with it any longer. Any advice on availability and costs would be much appreciated, mine is the Borg unit (the white case one), I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.
    Thanks, Harry

There's about twenty variations - one would need the last eight characters of your VIN to determine exactly which it is.

Nah, just fit one out of a non poverty pack 308/late 307/ mid spec 207. The early 407 MFD have two chips which become affected by heat. The ones above and >08 407 have One chip.

This morning I fitted a colour MFD from a top spec 308 into his early poverty pack 407 HDI (ST HDi Comfort). It needed to be configured via DIAGbox as there are differences between 308/407 features but it all worked

Can also get a slimline colour display - as seen on the 407 Coupe without nav!

For what it's worth the VIN is VF36DXFVJ21115925

Still wishing to know from where and rough cost as the few wreckers I have contacted that handle Euro cars didn't have any, they said.

Hey youngforold pug. There seem to be 308 mfd screens with different part numbers on ebay... Does this make any difference? How hard are they to replace? Mines buggered too (2005 407 sw hdi)

    Regards

    Rob

I just replaced mine with one off ebay, $180 from a melbourne address. Easy to replace, four screws, a bit of fiddling around with the wiring harness, and it was done in half an hour. Its from a model with dual zone aircon, of course none of that works, but the screen is bright as! No visits to the dealer required. I have a 407Hdi SR 2007.

From what I have read on other forums it appears that is heat that kills them. On a freezing cold day mine lasts longer than what it does on a warm day. The early version is in a white case and is made by Borg, the later and better version has a black case and is made by Johnson.

Do you take the radio out to remove the panel that frames the mfd?
