    Icon5 Griffiths QS - 206

    Hi frogs, its been awhile.

A while since i drove the 206 gti as well . Well we've seen the warmer days now and its time for the 206 to enjoy the long coastal drives. and a few things to do to get it back to its former glory. Ive got the cambelt change booked in (cars at 183k km) but now i need to address my QS.

it needs re-adjusting every few months if I put it at its most effective setting (low on the lever-arm). the higher the qs sits on the arm the less effective it is, and the less re-adjusting is required. i believe the nut may be slipping or the actual QS is slipping over the lever arm, i hand tighten it as hard as i can. (see attached)

has anyone had this issue? are there any fixes for this?

    regards to all. -kinroh

I've fitted a few Grifith QS kits and none have looked like that. It's been redesigned quite a few time from its original black steel version. Are you saying the block slips down the arm coming out of the gearbox?

Hand tight suggests to me that you haven't used a spanner or socket. Is this what you mean?

Sorry by hand tight i mean i use a spanner and an allan key. but using my own strength not power tools. actually the block slips rotationally (side to side) over the arm out of the gearbox.

Finally an end to my Quickshift woes. Bought a B&M shifter from AutoParis/Caravelle, fast shipping and a good quality product. However, fitting it was a biatch and a half, had to turn the gearstick bracket on its head and reshape parts of the heat shield in order to accomodate the drop in the gear stick (had clearance issues). So, now its all in there and short shifting very well. there is some notchiness in selecting gear 2, but the others are somewhat smoother than before.

despite it costing 280, compared to the cheap GE quickshift its design is much better than the newer GE designs.

Sorry, I had that at the back of my mind when doing the job, but to be honest I just wanted to get it over and done with.
