    Default 306 cabriolet idle

    Hello,
I am having a minor problem with my 1995 306 cab 1.8 manual:
as i stop in neutral, the engine idles a bit high at about 1200, but if I quickly step on the accellerator ad release, the idle goes down to about 850. Idle is smooth in both cases. I wonder if it could be a mechanical problem ie spring, cable.. or a sensor. Otherwise the car runs great!
    Thank you

They're supposed to be about 900-950 I think? I have a GTi6 though so different engine. If you pop up the bonnet there should be a sticker just under the front edge that lists what it should be.

Throttle cable sticking sounds like a likely candidate. Does it still idle high if you let it creep along in first with 0 throttle?
