Default 406 Trip computer display dull

Peugeot 406 HDI 2000 build, The display on the trip computer has lost it's brightness, you can still see the information displayed on the screen but only if you look really hard at it. Any body had this happen to them and is it fixable or does the display need replacing. Thanks

Can you easily read it at night ? Our 206 has a stuffed comm2000 unit and auto headlights come on during the day too which dims the display. Might be worth checking if you have auto lights.

I don't have auto lights, I've checked to see if there was any difference with the headlights on and it is the same either way. It's barely readable even at night.
    Thanks for your input.

Most likely the three T5 globes behind it are dull.

See the two trim plates either side of the screen, insert a pick or little screwdriver (don't damage the dash though) under the rounded corner of each and flip them off. Under each one will be 2 T20 torx screws - remove them. Pull out MFD and replace globes. There may be a black cover that requires removal - I think they are T10 torx screws. The globe holders come out with a 1/4 turn then globes just pull out if holder
