Default Hi! New 208 GTi Owner :-)

Just wanted to say hello, I just picked up my new 208 GTi today! Very exciting :-)
My fiancé has taken me away for my birthday to Jervis Bay... So that worked out well for a nice road trip through Kangaroo Valley... But I only have a dodgy phone pic for now.
i really like the car so far, and that's coming from an '08 BMW 135i. Less power of course but I love the handling of the car... Really very nice.
Getting a tint in the coming week and also contemplating a clear coat car bra...

    onya Bones,

gotta laugh thinking about a bra and panties set. do you noticed so much degradation to front end that you need to spoil(sic) the beautiful lines of that nice new car?

    happy motoring

Looking very smart! If you feel the need for the car bra protection, perhaps consider clear Plastidip?

thanks guys, i am indeed talking about the 3M or similar clear film "car bra" which is pretty much invisible... Only because I do a fair bit of long distance driving. But I'm still not sure if its worth the money and/or how invisible it is.... The tint though I definitely need!

Welcome! Mate I've seen it around it really depends on how clean you keep the edges of the film to its appearance. Enjoy your lovely car!

Ended up not bothering with the protective film… I reckon the car's paint would have to be spot-on underneath it, and I haven't had time yet to machine polish and remove all the swirls the dealer put in it!

Moving back to Qld soon - so if anyone is interested in the NSW plates 208G7I… let me know. I'd only be wanting to recover my costs (couple of hundred dollars)...

    Welcome aboard!

What made you jump for the 135i to the 208GTi? I ask this because I am forever having to defend FWD cars to silly friends of mine that think that only cars that are RWD are fun and good drivers cars.

"TWICE THE CAR @ HALF THE PRICE " is the common response I receive.
Will be interesting to see Sawbones response as I had thought to ask the same question.
Could it be that 'Sawbones' came from driving the BMW & he may change to 'NotsoSawbones'
Certainly the case if last car it was a Benz. that he had last.
