Default 504 front suspension noise in upper flexible mounting??

    Hi Folks.

The front upper suspension unit in my 82 504 has developed a 'metallic knock' when one puts downward pressure on the front guard.

Struts are good, retaining collar is tight, top strut lock nut is tight and the noise is coming from the upper flexible mounting-I suspect its somehow worn but I cant ascertain where.

Does anyone know of this condition, or had prior experiences with this issue?

I'd appreciate a comment from the 504 clan.

    Regards.

If it's like the 404, the upper spring/shock mount has perished and the rubber has detached from the steel backing. The metal knocking is the safety cups.

Thanks for the kind offer Graham.
We pulled it all out yesterday and found the problem.-this was the missing small nylon retaining ring which fits around the strut on the top side, under the retaining collar, this was causing a little movement in the koni strut,a rattle you might say. Anyway I needed the front end 'practice'.

Aha, I assumed you were using standard Peugeot shockers. I had that problem once with Konis in a 404.
