Default sluggish auto - 406 HDi

Any clues on why a 406HDi auto might might be TOTALLY gutless taking off? It was as if you were trying to take of in 3rd or 4th gear in a manual. SERIOUS trouble, or in need of a good service.
Can anyone recommend a good service centre in Sydney?

Sounds like a problem that happens on C5s of the same era. A cracked Y piece (I think) on some pipe in the air intake system in the engine bay. An easy fix - again - I think.

406 HDi is the ATED not the BTED engine so no "Y" piece...

If you give it say 75% throttle rather than 100% is it any less gutless?

Hi, I have had a few tips on this, and have discovered that the 'anti pollution fault' light come on when the engine starts. This apparently puts the auto into 'limp' mode which I believe restricts the car to third gear only . which is EXACTLY how it felt when I drove it for a total of 400 m, half of that uphill !!! I was looking to buy the car. Owner is getting it to a peugeot service centre for a diagnosis and quote. We shall see.

    Thanks for your help.
