Default Peugeot announce the 208GTi availability in France

They are taking orders but won't deliver until the northern spring 2013. It is going on the market in France at 24,500 Euros base, just a little more than the 207 RC
The engine throws out 200bhp and that gets the 0 to 100 down to 6.9 secs.

So, almost as fast as a minivan, then

Why don't they put the R engine in it? 260 HP avec autobloquant, ça va arranger bien les choses....

first you have the gti, than comes the RC version. So who knows, might be possible that it will receive the engine that goes into the RCZ-R.

Possibly. It only really ever happened with the 206, so here's hoping they buck history.

I'm curious about the weight of the GTi, as it's supposed to be so much lighter than the 207 and yet with more grunt it only manages a 0.2s improvement. It doesn't quite add up.

Is it the same engine as the 207?

Many people re-map the 207 engine? At least with a turbo engine it should be relatively easy to get a bit more out of it.

    Are the engines intercooled?

Attached are photos of the GTi at the Paris Motor Show, I have plenty of other photos from the show which I will put up. I took a photo of the brakes, not huge, but this probably means it will be reasonably priced and aimed at a real, not fantasy, market.
I can send high def versions of these if you give me an email address.
