    Default 406 SV accelerator sticks

My 1998 3.0 406 sticks on full throttle. It drives fine when driven sedately but if the accelerator pedal goes near the floor it sticks on, and so bounces off the rev limiter.
It can be reset by simply flicking the cable end attachement (on the throttle housing) OR by pushing the accelerator harder to the floor a few times. This is done after switching the engine off.
It's actually causing the cable to physically stick on, it seems clean etc, all looks fine, so, I have no idea.
    HELP!

Have you had the inlet pipe off? I have seen the metal ring come away from the inside of the pipe and jam the butterfly in the same manner in which you describe.

Pipe from the air filter to the throttle body. Take it off and check the TB butterfly. If not disconnect the cable from the TB and work out which one is at fault.

Check your mat on the floor as it catches on the base of the pedal and sticks down , as happened to me on a few occasions so never left a mat on the drivers side , well check anyway

Mine too. Same cure, remove the mat.

Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.

Well James504 you nailed it mate!! One metal ring removed from the throttle body. What a nightmare it has been lately.
I had front end damage repaired, and the shop has left me with 1) a radiator hose not properly connected. 2) A battery terminal on loose, and 3) This problem. Time to call my insurance company about the dodgy work from their preferred shop.
