    Default 205 SI Enquiry

    Hey all.
I am looking at a peugeot 205 SI 1.6 auto as a second car rounaround.
Its pretty rough but doessnt seem to have too much cancer.

I would like some advice as to what to look for and what are the common probs.

The vehicle in question is not running well at all and sounds to me like the timing belt has slipped.

    ie induction backfiring and spluttering.

The vehicle is super cheap and I am keen to get my hands dirty but would appreciate some advice

C4Don the first thing I would be checking is the rear beam.
    Repairing that can be expensive.
Is there excessive negative camber on the rear wheels?
Does the car squeak when you get into or out of it?

Driveshafts would be my only other concern.

Most other problems will be non-brand/model specific.

They are a great car to drive, overshaddowed by the 205 GTi but not far behind.

Oh, and make sure you use Dex II in the auto box.
