Default ZDJ Water pump, special type.

Ebay has a 505 GTi water pump listed, this is actually an early pump, for the ZEJ (assuming the photo is correct, although I saw another listing where it was described as being for the ZEJ, 79 to 83, so pretty safe there) and allows the fitting of a 504 style magnetic clutching fan, far superior to the horrible viscous thing.
I bought one, the other is still for sale.
Of course you will need to supply a carbon brush and a 504 clutching set up.

I just buy an alternator brush, or any carbon brush, and file it down to fit.

I just logged into the 'firstline' catalogue, where it lists the same water pump for both 2.0 ZEJ and 2.2 ZDJ engines. One of them can't be right.

The later pumps with the viscous fans did not have a threaded shaft, they had a flange with four threaded holes to bolt the fan and pulley too.

But the pictures for both are certainly of the threaded shaft model. At any rate, it's not a bad price for a water pump for a ZDJ, so at worst case and it is not for the ZEJ, it would make a good spare for a local ZDJ.

And here's another, more expensive but given the photo is definately the right pump.

I have been in contact with him, he says it is listed for the late model but of course he also has it listed as being for the early model. Maybe all the cars have clutching fans in Europe?

I should get another reply back soon.
He has sold 4 in the last day, 2 to the US to be modified for something else.

I have two of them if anyone's interested in making me a copmarable offer. I wasn't being careful when I bid for them. Mechanic couldn't think outside the square so I was stuck with getting a genuine one.
