Default 306 parts for sale cheap!

I have the opportunity of buying an early 306 XR 2 door, pretty basic car, but with a unique spec professionly built engine which I want to keep.
The car has hail damage but otherwise a good car, all parts available except for engine.

Graham, just wondering about the up spec motor. What did they do to it?
2011 Renault Koleos manual petrol, yes it's boring, but not as boring as:

I was waiting for that question!

It is an XU7JP as fitted to the car originally but has a stroker crank, makes sense given the owner and his business, to give 2 litre capacity.
It has forged pistons and Carillo (Honda I think) rods, 10 to 1 compression and a Clive cam, pretty lumpy idle.
The head has been worked over as well.
It still has the original Marelli management and that horrible plastic inlet manifold, but goes very well indeed, should be excellent in the lighter 205 with MS and probably the GTi inlet manifold, although I would like to use the original air cleaner/intake system given the 205 has to drive in dust a lot of the time. No hurry to fit this as the XU9J2 is going very well but i thought it too good an opportunity to pass up.

Already got the low gearing, now using 4th gear in Autocross.
Do you reckon the crank might do something special in a 16v XU10?

The bore is 85mm in those from memory, so crank is probably 88mm.

83 mm, the crank is over 90, normally 81.5. No problems with revs with the long stroke, very smooth.
This is a specially built up crank, which is why the rods and pistons are different, a lot of work and money to replicate it.

The thought has crossed my mind, although the DKZ is running fine it probably needs a freshen up and this would give the car a lift.

    Hi Graham
I'm potentially after a few bits and pieces. Where abouts are you located?

At the moment I'm looking for a a/c heater control panel. Would you send it to victoria?

    Cheers

Hi Matt, I'm in Melbourne, intend to pick it up in a week or so and then drive it to Dromana where it will be dismantled.
Maybe we could meet in North Balwyn before I take it down to Dromana?

Sorry, checked and it is 81.4 mm so 1761 cc.
This is the XU7JP as fitted to the early 306s.

XU7JP4 is a 16 valve version, similar to XU10J4R but with an alloy block so has potential, this was fitted to the lower spec N5 306s.

    OK, will do.
I have since found that the engine has $3500 worth of billet crank so well and truly worth buying!

Hi Graham, how are u? Do you have a fuel sender unit (not sure what it is actually called, but it measures the level of fuel actually in the tank). Mine was seized at a quarter tank mark, thought I had a fuel pump failure, as the gauge would read correctly until the quarter tank mark. I have a 94 306 XR with an xu10 16v fitted, and pulsar disc and calipers at the rear.
    Thanks
    Lynden
