Default 406 D9 to good to wreck

This 406 D9 sedan just came in. Its a 2 litre manuel, has the later engine, same as 206GTi and C5.
Its very straight and drives well, perfect front panels which is worth a lot of money.

Its been written off because of flood damage, interior has been pulled apart probably to assess the hi tide mark. Leather seats appear fine. Climate control panel and milti function display unit all appear to be working fine.

Probably will be wrecked, I'm not sure how much interest there is in 406's, it's here if anyone is interest.
Surely the late model leather interior is valuable.

    Hi David,

If it does fall to wrecking, I'd be very interested in the bootlid (if straight, looks good in the photo) and the com2000 unit. Also possibly the MFD.

    Cheers,

    Angus

    Hi Angus,

The boot lid looks perfect, not even a slight ripple to my eyes. We are busy trying to bolt the interior back togeather now so I can use it over the weekend to find out what its like.

The com2000 and MFD seem to work fine now but remember its been in water (although no one seems to be able to tell me how high it got) I'd like to test the electrical system better, a 50 minute drive up the freeway and back again with the headlights on should be a good test.

We will give it a few days, if no one expresses any interest we will start wrecking it.

Biggest expense will be getting it through a VIV. They will want all the airbags and pretensioners replaced I think.

Not really, all they usually need is a print out from the dealer saying no fault codes come up.

    Right again. From the Vicroads website;

If the vehicle has been fresh water immersed or an SRS device (e.g. airbag) has deployed or is faulty, a complete Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) inspection and report (including ECU check) from an authorised dealer will be required before a certificate can be issued. The VIV inspector will provide you with the relevant forms at the time of inspection.

Now besides an exhaust leak it seems fine

Definitely looks too good to wreck! If we hadn't just bought an MI16 as a run about, it would have been perfect!! Hopefully it doesn't get destroyed...

You've bought an MI16. You'll need a spare car, especially one capable of towing.

Yeah I know there not that bad, just a pain in arse to work on. I'm just stiring my Mi16 powered son (cav91) who thinks there the greatest thing since sliced bread.

This 406 is fantastic to drive, done about 200km so far (yesterday was 35 degrees) air cond on and it didn't miss a beat. What a nice smooth way to cruise the freeways.

This car is still hanging around. Appears to be no interest in saving it so we start stripping it.

    All parts up for grabs.

Gus, I just punched it the vin on servicebox and looks like it is a com2000. part number is 624230

I didn't think it was first because this one works.
Really need your vin to match numbers up.
