Default Wanted URGENTLY!!: 504/505 TD fan hub

    Hi everyone,

I'm after a fan hub (both halves) and the idler shaft that it runs on, to suit XD2/XD3 diesel engine.

The nut has worked loose on mine, the fan moved forward, hit the radiator and bent the idler shaft!!

    Thanks!

I put an electric fan on and ran the belt past the fan pulley.
The belt is from memory 10X1000 and cleanly misses the fan hub which now sits idle.

Thanks Hutchie, last night I actually removed the old pulley (with a hacksaw) and measured the length for a replacement belt to bypass it - I worked it out as an 11A0950. I'll buy a decent fan and fit the shorter belt as soon as possible.

I like the electromagnetic clutch hub idea, it is very powerful and efficient, but is becoming a bit unmaintainable!

It seems that a 16" Davies Craig fan is now less than $200, so that will be the way to go.

Bugger that, get one of these:

I've put one on my GTD, it needs to be slightly modified but for a talented chap like yourself, the mods are simple and the cooling has to be seen to be believed. I wired the 2 speed fan into the existing thermofan controller and wired up a relay for the second fan, which I've only used a couple of times during last summer in 40 degree heat with the aircon flat out.

I had to chop off the viscous fan mounting but one of the other existing v-belts, which I had a replacement on hand for, fits the bill.
