By standard ratio I assume you mean for a sedan?

    I'm interested. Whereabouts are you?

Can you please suppy the dimensions, there are many different types for the 404.
Mineral oil OK as long as there are no EP additives, ST140 is mineral and is the most used oil.

    Hi Binky

Sorry for the delay, but yes it's for a standard sedan.

Something went wrong I'll try again.

Diff components are standard in every way for a 404 sedan.

    Located in Sydney Sutherland Shire.

    Thanks and cheers

I'm not too sure of that.

The later cars had different axles, finer splines and larger diameter.

The very early cars may well have had the 403B diffs complete, which have a narrower worm wheel.

If you run some calipers over the worm wheel width, I can confirm if it's early or late.

Either way it's very Saleable, but it may prevent someone buying the wrong part.

The manual, pages attached, confirm different worm wheels were fitted.

Not just the width, the late 65 and 66 worm wheels (Australian model years) had a larger diameter although the same width and the same planetary gears.
Fine spline axles were used from the later C2 403s, the ones with the telescopic shocks.
The axle size at the splines was increased in the post 66 diffs.

    Default Crown and drive worm

The part nr. for the diff is P 324241 and the id stamped on the crown bit reads as follows
    41097 - 5 x 21.

That's all the info I can get hold of.

I leave for Europe coming Monday, 28.03.2011, and should be back late September.

If any Frogger wants bits and pieces sourced from Europe please pm me.

    Cheers LIJM
