    But I need a BE1 I can pinch gears out of for a hybrid gearbox.

    Just to clarify Chris, you need a BE3 OR BE1 from a series 1 or 2 205 GTi.
    The ratios didn't change until the series 3 and even then only the 1st gear and final drive ratios were different. So a series 3 BE3 would be OK for you given you will be using the final drive from my Mi16 box and the first gear I would imagine you will be using is a series 3GTi /Mi16.
    Baz, remember him? has a noisy BE1 box, I'm supplying him with a BX box to keep the car going so his old box may be OK for gears if you can't find another.

    I stand corrected.

    A BE3 will do the trick. So a BE3 will be fine too.

    1st - 2.92:1 from either a S3 205 GTi or any Mi16
    2nd - 1.85:1 from anything
    3rd - 1.36:1 from any 205 GTi
    4th - 1.069:1 from any 205 GTi
    5th - 0.865:1 from any 205 GTi
    CWP - 4.43:1 from any Mi16, OR, 4.06:1 from a 1.6L GTi or 405 8V

    This what I'm trying to build. SO actually I guess I'm wrong. I need a BE3. Good save Graham, thanks. But whats this Baz bit at the bottom of your post about me having a noisy gearbox.

    BE1 is OK too but if you base the build on a BE3 you will get a slightly better box, at the moment I guess you only have the BE1 Mi16?.
    Baz has the noisy gearbox which may be available for bits.

    Should have said earlier. I've got a GTi S3 BE3 box you can have for $400.
