    Hi,

I'd be happy to take the most of the GS bits off of you, if they're in good condition. Just send me your phone number/email and an idea of prices.

    Cheers,
    Chris

I'd be interested in the Kugelfischer Manual to keep my Ti ticking. Happy to pay photocopying and postage + some for your efforts if you want to keep a copy to go with the motor.

I'd also like a spare 504 Ti engine but Adelaide is a bit far unless you are shifting to Canberra or can wait till I get to Adelaide at Christmas

Not sure, but maybe a joint venture on that manual photocopying might be good...

I'd have to check and see if it's the same as Owen has, though.

I'll be in Adelaide a little sooner than Christmas if that's a help, Adam.

Sorry to take so long to reply fellas - have been trying to (a) establish realistic prices for the buttresses - have not yet, but as 3 people seem to be interested -would they like to make an offer? (they are genuine peugeot parts) and
(b)find the GS books! (I will soon and will advise Chrisn and one other by email)
Yes James - the p/cap is lockable - with one key.
The Kugelfischer manual offered is a photocopy and I am still looking for that too! I will find it soon. Offers?
I would love for someone to take ALL the Pug parts or all the 404 or 504 parts as my council hard rubbish collection is on Sept.8 and it would be a shame ....
Have found more bits - bag of NEW 505 hoses and pipes, kit to fit 04 engine to 03,Formuling strg. wheel for 504(or 404),host of new 04 gaskets,2 good 404 h/lights,used(150,000km)2l piston/liner kit(FTGH),etc.
Due to studies the only weekend day b4 8/9 I am available is 7/9. If I knew someone was DEFINITELY going to take them I could hold for another month.

    I've seen this, Dave...

It's a TI timing chest with Datsun oil pump etc... everything's there, modded sump and all.

Sorry again to take so long to respond fellas. Probably won't get a chance to reply to all until next Monday. Would like to get $60 each for the buttresses. The engine fit kit covers engine only - I seem to have lost the modified bellhousing!

I have a bell housing which has been cut and shut to allow a 404/504 engine to fit a 203/403 (C3 gearbox).
    I also have a jig to redrill a 404 C3 flywheel to fit a 504 crankshaft.
I want $50 for the bell housing and the jig can be borrowed.
If no takers I would be interested in buying the rest of the kit myself.

Why would you do that, Graham?

Surely a 16TS pressure plate would be good enough to allow that conversion to take place? Bolts straight onto the flywheel, has a pressure pad for the carbon thrust...

    Ray,
    You learn something every day!
This may be of great value to people who can't get hold of pressure plates for thir 03s.(use 1968 404 flywheel, this has the same ring gear as the early flywheel)
What is the pedal pressure like? I have previously used a 504 plate with an Austin 1800 throw out pad installed and it was very heavy.

That would obviously depend on ratios in the levers used, Graham. I only know about it because I had that on my Clubman... but that was with a Fiat gearbox.

But the fact is, there is usually a way to get around these things.

But isn't there a few mechanical clutches (and their attendant flywheels) around for use in 03s? Much more reliable, slightly bigger, bolt straight in.

Back again fellas - Pugrambo, I have no idea of postage costs - maybe one of the freight services would be cheaper/easier?
Forgot to say that I can email a full list of parts available if anyone is interested. Also did not list a full set of excellent late 404 doors (brown) - prefer to sell locally and/or buyer to pick up! Also a large number of 404 ss strips (complete set + )
I think I paid Dennis Barber $200 for the 04 to 03 engine kit about 8-10 yrs ago. Probably included the bellhousing. Any offers?

    thank you
i'm getting an idea on whats around just in case i get this 404 wagon
but it will need buttresses and doors
    possibly a bonnet
and plenty of my welding skills
may also either look at getting another interior or maybe just re-doing what is in it
but the door trims are a bit hows your father in it
it does have certain things in it's favour that it has a hypoid diff in it and has only covered 71k miles
    and it's a '70 model and it's a non compliance plate model
i think the radiator support member is a little cancer ridden as well
plus i have noticed the typical little bubbles around the bottom of the windscreen so the screen would have to come out and further investigation will reveal further cancer i'm sure
so it will either be a big fix or try and grab some new panels for the windscreen frame of which i used to have some which were made by my father but as he doesn't have access to any of the equipment now to make these frames up makes things a little harder
the wagon also has a little rust in the rear guards which isn't a big job but the big thing aould be when i pull the sill covers off and look at what used to be there as well before termites
it's going to be a touch and go if this car is either worth putting back on the road or scrapping it for parts
as 404's are not one of my favourite pugs i would still hate to see the car go to waste
if it was a 403 wagon i'd already have the work started on the car

    Ray,
Yes there are spring clutches around but they bolt onto 6 bolt flwheels, the jig I have converts these to fir onto a 7 bolt 504 crankshaft.

What can you tell us about the 403 2 litre conversion kit? I've got a 403 with a very tired C3 gearbox, very tired original motor and a spare 2 litre lying around. Do you have the entire gearbox or just the top plate? Are there any bits for the engine ie sump, oil pump, intake manifolds etc that need to be modified to make the 2 litre stand up straight?

    Cheers,
    Scotty

I think the 2-litre conversion kit was described before...

It centres on a TI timing chest onto which has been adapted a Datsun 1600/200B oil pump, thus eliminating the 504 oil pump (which would foul the crossmember), there's a modified sump and a manifold that sits the carby up straight.

I think it's clear the gearbox top is on its lonesome...

Don't forget that I have a modified bell housing to go with this kit. This enables a 504/404 motor to be fitted upright to a C2/C3 gearbox.
This is Phil Torode's original bell housing from his prototype conversion.
