    Default Brake bit needed

Joined this forum today for the selfish reason of needing a part.

Need a right hand rear parking brake return spring for a 1973 504 sedan (disc brakes all round). According to parts people over in SA, 505 sedan rear brakes are the same.

I am told by suppliers the springs are no longer available as new parts... and I spent a couple of hours ringing wreckers and hotlines in SA, as well as some in Qld and got told "we don't know anyone wrecking such old Peugeots"!

    I can't believe it!

Anyone able to sell me a return spring?

I need it asap as it is mum's car and though 79, she races around all over the place in it daily... has a lead foot too!

First call would be French Connection in Melbourne.

I am sure you tried this list.

Also, one place you never mentioned was Caravelle in Melbourne. I'm OK to list the number hopefully as I did mention DaveC first {Caravelle}03 9890 9061

Thanks Bob for your reply, but looks like I will go a replacement caliper

Got onto Pug Parts in melbourne who say I need a whole caliper as the brake arm is very stiff and they suggest it is worn inside. Cost is $120 plus postage. They also offered for me to call any time i am working on the car and need advice... Any comments from people who have used them?

Caraavelle put me onto Pug Parts... thanks hk puggy

I've got a good rear caliper here that you can have for nothing if you're coming up to Adelaide at all. Not sure if it's left or right side though, and it's too dark now to go and look. Can check in the morning if you're interested.

Rats. I've paid for one and it is in the mail... would definitely have taken you up on your offer.

Dad had a new 403 when I was 6 or 7. Later sold it to his mate who used to go interstate most weekends (in flat out mode) for thehorse races. Dad then bought a 404 sedan in which I learned to drive... third gear used to give me trouble and one night on the way home form church when I still had my L's a copper pulled me over for drink driving... I was wandering across the lane while trying to get 3rd!

We also had a 404 wagon which we used to carry eggs to Adelaide and carry almost a ton of shell grit in the trailer back for the chook farm. It was a terrific car. My mate still has it as a pride of his Peugeot collection.

Mum and dad bought the 504 new and mum is determined it will outlast her... so I might be chasing more parts in the future.

    Thanks everyone for your help.
