Default 205 air con conpressor price

i have a working 205 gti compressor for the air con for a 1987 205 gti.
its in working order ,i took it off as a air con pipe is brocken and its easier to work on the front without it in the way.
how much does a working order compressor sell for?
i may b interested in selling it if its worth it.
im probably not goin to refit the air con, sure its nice to have it but i got a sunroof and can open my windows so im not that bothered fixing it.

hmm i "may" be intrested in an air condiotining condenser and compreser. Living in queensland without airconditioning in summer is a pain in the you know what. It would all depend on price and hard it would be to actually install it.

    Baz,
I think you can buy them from the wreckers for about $150, so i suppose it depends on the condition, new ones cost about $800.

Mine is making a whiring noise and I have been told it's on the way out.
Good to have but expensive to fix!
    Cheers

Get it sealed off properly otherwise you'll have a couple of kilos of scrap metal & not an air/con compressor if it gets contaminated with moisture or dirt.

As far as fitting an air/con after market goes, it is only viable if you can do a lot of the basic work yourself as it is an extremely labour intensive project that would blow the costs out the window if you must pay for someone else to do it.

If it ain't broke, use a 12" shifter.....that usually does the trick!!

I've had quotes for $300 for a new compressor for 1987 S1 205's ... they were mates rates.. so maybe $400 retail?
