Default WTD - Air Conditioning Compressor

    Hi folks

The AC compressor on my 2005 407 has died and, thanks to family circumstances, need to try and source a 2nd hand replacement.

Have tried a couple of local wreckers but nothing as yet.

    Any clues/hints from the tribe?

    Thanks

There is a difference in compressors between those fitted to diesel or petrol V6s and they are not interchangeable. The petrol one has a recessed bearing and pulley at the front where the diesel doesn't and one doesn't line up with the other pulleys if you try to interchange them.
Our 407s are V6 petrols and we have found that if the compressor is second hand and has sat for ages then you will find that despite filling with the correct oil to the correct level the compressor should, but not always, work. On our latest V6 petrol one it sat for ever while being assessed for repair or destruction before we got it and rebuilt the head and replaced lots of bits the compressor just did nothing while it sat and is now noisey despite all the attention we gave it. When I went to get a second hand one I was told that it would probably be the same or worse so as it works put up with it so we do.

This is what the mechanic sent through as an advisory for parts numbers, etc
