Default Wanted A110 Master Cylinder seals

Anyone know of local suppliers of suitable seals in Sydney area?.

Went to go for a drive and the pedal went to the floor. Puddle of fluid under the master cylinder and initial inspection indicates its leaked around the piston.

Worst job to remove the tandem unit on an R8G with a front radiator to really restrict access. Wish I could afford a hoist.

Most brake places will find the part once you have it out

When you get the master cylinder out and dismantled you will find some part numbers on the inside if the seals.

You will then be able to go to your local friendly brake supplier and get some replacements.

The master cylinder is 22mm so the seals are possibly less common than 19mm dia. It was going to be a weekend job however I will take today off so I can do the rounds of suppliers with a sample in hand and see what's available.

I know I am going to get really tired of the sales guys asking "Whats it off" then telling me the model is not listed.

That is a virtually new Meca parts M/c, only about 12 months old and done about 500k. I will check the bore when I get it out as I have heard of some imperfections in those M/C's. The correct solutions will then be revealed.

Apart from any possible manufacturing faults which may need correcting, a seal kit is a certainty, hence the initial request in this post.

I was going to suggest power brakes. They do mail order rebuilds and will resleeve if they think it necessary. I had the old white R10 one done by them, then the new one purchased from Mecaparts failed on the green car - less than 5yrs; so swapped them over when I took the white car off the road - still going strong in the green car.

Well, the casting seems to be a very poor material, brittle and porous. Pitting inside which could have been sleeved until I saw some hairline cracks on the end near the mount.

I didn't check the seal part numbers, they look pretty standard, common variety seals.

I’m imagining the pain in trying to do either of the above with Mecaparts. Suddenly, swapping mc’s doesn’t seem so bad!
