Hello Le Parisian, not sure how to PM you on Aussiefrogs (sorry) but maybe you can PM me with your ballpark asking price. Interested in pursuing a spare for the DS23. Thanks! GretaDeesse

Since it has been raised, not necessarily. There are two final drive ratios and one is more highly geared than the other. Data are given in the manuals and it should be possible to count the number of turns to work it out if there is no other way to pick them apart. Most of the 5 speed gearboxes out there will be the taller ratio versions from DS21 or 23 and give you a taller ratio than the usual later ID/Special 4th, but the Super 5 gearbox won't give you as much of a gain in top gear. It does give you 5 speeds though and that may be all some people want. However, most seem to want a 5 speed to gain the maximum top gear they can. 4 speed DS (i.e. not an ID/Special) gearboxes and pre-68 ID19Bs have a taller ratio about the same as the taller 5 speeds when compared to later ID/Special. It's just a matter of reading the data and knowing what the gearbox originally came from to avoid disappointment.

Hey guys, let's keep this civil - I've deleted the chat other than David's post which does inform those that may not know about the variations in the 5 speed box. Anyone interested should do as requested and contact the OP by Private message.

    Cheers

The Déesse has all the characteristics of one of those objects fallen from another universe that fed the mania for novelty in the eighteenth century and a similar mania expressed by modern science fiction: the Déesse is first and foremost the new Nautilus.
