    Default 5.2 Final Drive WTB

I had a run in the 405 Mi16 at Winton Rallycross at the weekend, car went OK but is in desperate need of a lower final drive ratio, thinking 5.2 to 1. Second gear through the esses is just not on in my book. Before I order one from Pug1off, I got a 4.8 through them for the 309, does anyone have one or know of a source? Also, the Pug1off one seems a little noisy but I was told by them that the bevel angle is closer to being straight cut than normal. Any comments, has anyone used one of their units?

Bacci Romano in Italy is where I've sourced a 5.23:1 (RD163) & my current 4.8:1 Graham. They've always given me a better price than what's listed. My 5.23 was also noisy. The 4.8 not so.

Thanks, how did you get the cheaper price?
I have sent an order, just waiting on postage cost. The one from Pug1off was subject to duty. Quaife ATB from Palmside NZ was not.

Never thought of doing that. If it was under $1000 I may not have to pay duty? Price almost the same as Pug1off.

How did you find the 5.23, max speed won't be an issue for this car, Rallycross and Autocross/ Rallysprints at private venues. Only just got into 3rd at Winton, rallycross track is very tight, fastest bit is the front straight, Marulen will be the same.

What rear shocks did you use? I'm thinking of just dropping a complete Berlingo rear end in, shocks should then match the 21.3 mm bars. The other unknown is if the discs can be fitted to the Berlingo stub axles.

Too short for circuit work compounded by 205 3rd & 4th shorter ratios. Was quick out of corners though. Gaz shocks. The stub axles might be shorter with the drum brakes on the Berlingo for a disc conversion but the bigger arb will be better.

    You mean 3rd 4th AND 5th?
Might just grab the whole rear end if they don't want too much, there is one at Imlachs at the moment.

Yes 5th too but that caused a problem of hitting the limiter half way down the straight at Sandown. I tried a std Mi16 5th as a temporary measure before getting the 4.8 and refitting the 205 5th gear. Now peak revs are at the end of the straight at Sandown & PI.
