    Default Free P306 TD

    Hi All

Free to a good, bad or indifferent home one 306 Turbo Diesel 4 door sedan, manual.

Work stalled on this car halfway thru a timing belt change and it was dumped at my place.

The rear suspension looks decidedly odd and will need work.

The exterior is good, as is the interior. The engine was locked/pegged during the timing belt change and has not been moved since. All parts to complete the job are there. Not sure what needs to be done to the rear suspension (drivers' side wheel canted in at the top (-ve camber)).

I really don’t have the time to part the car out. Sadly, it'll be scraped if there are no takers.

Trailer it home or get yourself to Gero, stay in the famous Blue Room while you fix it, enjoy some free-range eggs and the security of being guarded by two fearsomely delightful border collies.

Did I mention the wildflowers are going off in these parts, too...

I would be all over this if it weren't literally on the complete diagonal opposite side of the country. 306 TDs are such great cars! Is it mechanical injection or HDi?

Good luck finding someone to take it on. It would be a shame to see it go to scrap.

    Dear Scotty,

You are nought but a slack [email protected]

Please pull your finger out and come get it.

There's a comfortable bed, a shed full of tools, and a vast country in full bloom.

    What else do you want?

    Respectfully yours,

It wasn't your availability that I was thinking about.....

You do realise that it would be in the order of 3750km from there to here.....?

    Matthew, Demannu,

All this talk of a road trip prompts me to add another carrot.

Having only used my manual 2002 406 coupe a few times in recent times, I have decided let it go.

It has new tyres and I have just paid the license.
Runs well, replaced the thermostat and overhauled the radiator.
Paint is not exactly good. I was going to repaint but obviously I'm not going to get around to it!

If anyone wants to compensate me for those costs then I'm happy to see it go to an enthusiast.
    (about $750).

So if a road trip is being organised - fly over here (yes I have overnight beds etc) and take two good cars back!

    Cheers

    Roland

Hope it goes to a good home. We just sold our 1995 306 XT, owned by us from new. I was really surprised how much interest there was on Gumtree within three hours of posting. Sold for cash the same day. Not one expression of interest from Aussiefrogs.

So, maybe try Gumtree if nothing happens from this page?

    cheers

We'll see what it brings, John.

The body and the interior are good, so maybe someone looking for spares.

Problem is its in sunny Gero and it would need to be transported to its destination or fixed here.

    Update:

Well a local One of Our Own was visiting from Qld and he and his son looked over the said vechicle and could take the car on as a project to get wheels under their son/grandson in the near future.

After we got the boot open we found that the new T-belt and waterpump were not with the car as I initially thought (but a new set of rotors were). Also, the car, I'm told, uses mechanical injection, not electronic.

We need to get some idea of the cost of parts. Does anyone know where can we source a new timing belt kit for not exhorbitant $$$?
