    Default Top Radiator Hose

Good Day all, looking for top radiator hose for the R10. I have a spare, but not new and not much better that the one on the car which is leaking from the bottom of the hose. Making a bit of a mess.
    Can I buy one locally??

    Hi,
If you can't find the right part, I can recommend flexible radiator hoses from Ebay. They come in a range of lenghts and diameters. Though I don't doubt someone on this site will know where to get the right part.

Unfamiliar with Renaults, but if anything from an R12 fits, check the link- page 245. Mackay have another catalogue that lists rad hoses by diameter at either end and overall length.

    Default Radiator hose

If you take the dead body to a friendly Bursons or Repco they will often allow you to rummage through their hoses to find either

    An exact replica
One with a diameter and bend of the right sort that can be trimmed to length
    Or

Two with the right curves that can be cut, trimmed to length and fastened together with SS joiner and hose clips

Lot of hosework in yer average modern shitbox, segments of which can be handy

This is often better than repro stuff from Argentina or China, some of which is made on the cheap, in expectation of low use in enthusiast car

Stuff for moderns has to survive the vicissitudes of daily abuse and is speccíed accordingly

    Best wishes

I have a NOS unit here TOP ad BOTTOM but need you to give me the Radiator neck Dia because some cars have been fitted with smaller necks.

Hmm. All R10s had a large diameter top hose at the radiator end I thought. Still the diameter at the radiator end must be specified to be sure. A small diameter hose on an R10 sounds like an R10 with an early R8 radiator unless I'm wrong about early R10s????

Trouble is, these hoses are available immediately ex-France (Euro 15 from Melun Retro Passion for example) but most Euro suppliers have something like a Euro 40 minimum postage (it does include packing and going to the Post Office, and time is money), so needing a single item is a problem! Save up a pile of items and the postage becomes more reasonable....

Compared with Audi service places charging about AUD 215 per hour (I'm told) it's not as unreasonable as it might sound...…. You want convenience? Yes? You pay for it.....

Don't waste your time f_ucking about with other hoses (trust me recently Ive wasted my time already with the above methods.) Just go to MECAPARTS and order a new one. Measure the inner section of the top radiator hose that goes to the top rad tank. That will give you the size bro

Thanks for the info, did not know there were different sizes, I did rummage through all the hoses at Supercheap yesterday, but no luck, looks like an order from France.
    Thanks all for your input.

Worth a try Roger. I was lucky at Supercheap sorting a compound hose for my Citroen, including a 90 degree bend in aluminium - there is an amazing range. That job was to get the hose to clear the non-standard alternator bracket in the tight space between engine and radiator.

But that top R10 hose is quite short, tight in the curves and complex. Maybe a few people close to you want one too, in which case you could spread the postage and get the cost down. I did check my "pipes" drawer again as I was sure I used to have one in there, but definitely not. Why I have three lower hoses for the 4CV remains a puzzle.

    Cheers

A lot of you are forgetting (or not aware) that the thermostat fits into the engine end of that top hose on an R8/10 hence why it is such a tight angle, and different diameter at each end.

Pretty tight space with sharp curves. Best just to buy the right one..... Well, I do anyway!
