How much are you wanting for the turbo?
Any play or wear in it?

I replaced one of these on a 1.6 307 HDi a few weeks ago. We replaced just the core with one from eBay. Setting up the exhaust nozzle stop was a bit of a fiddly practice to get it right, but other than that it was quite straightforward.

There is a small gauze filter in the banjo bolt that secures the oil feed pipe to the block. This was completely blocked, and had obviously starved the turbo of oil. It also had leaks from the oil line fittings themselves, apparently a very common problem. The oil pipe is strongly recommended for replacement, and the gauze filter can be cleaned in petrol and re-used.

This is the second turbo its done since Ive had it.
The first was from oil starvation due to blocked gauze, which i removed completely from both ends of the pipe so that isnt an issue.
The turbo I replaced it with was a second hand $80 turbo which was apparently removed due to having a "whistle" with unknown kms on it.
It lasted 60k+ so Im not complaining too much considering.
I did have a spare one but as usual, ended up selling it to someone else who was in need and left myself short.

I think 9HY and 9HZ engine should have the same turbo. The engine emission codes differ because the manual had no particle filter and the later EGS version did. You'd also find it in various Pugs and Fords etc.. There are used turbos available from Europe that should at least be genuine Garrett items for not vast sums if you are prepared to take a punt on one being OK. Otherwise, at the lower cost end you are looking at aftermarket parts, reco turbos or non-genuine versions. For example:

At least from a higher volume seller aimed at reliable white vans, there's a chance they units they sell may be OK.

This would be an EGS at a wrecker in Qld Australia

No guidance given about the turbo condition or cost. Can't hurt to ask.
