    Default Wanted Caravelle parts

Hi I live in Perth and am rebuilding a Caravelle, so many parts were incorrect, damaged, missing or rusted away, my list was vast but I think my final list of parts I require is as set out below......

Heater assembly (OK hens teeth but one can hope)

Engine bay rear panel (radiator support) for a glass bottle type.

Engine bay both lower sheet metal cover/protectors either side of the engine.

Under car centre shields .... I have the rearward one I need the forward 2 including the one the covers the spare wheel.

2 vibration damper metal castings and U-clampís for the rear suspension strut/brace beams.

    Thanks fingers crossed..

Have you tried the Euro suppliers for these?

Yes quite a few over many months. One says he has them but for the same as our national debt... + shipping which could be just as scary.

I am no Caravelle guru but I would expect that the suspension dampers are the same as R10/8. The lower engine bay sheet metal and shields could also be substituted by R10/R8 units modified if necessary, they are easily acquired. I have occasionally seen a heater assembly on AF and recently sold one so not really as rare as hens teeth if you keep looking locally.

    I agree with Bustamif.
With the exception of the heater, I'd be looking closely at R10 for almost all the other parts as a source.
The Caravelle supposedly shared the R8 platform (in Australia at least - some markets had some versions called Caravelle that we would consider Floride from memory) and R10s's are all but mechanically identical to R8's.

    Hello Robin,

PM sent. As KB said, you'll go a long way with R10 parts, but not everything of course.

Sounds as if a donor car would help!

    Good luck with the search.

From perusing the parts catalogue, the engine under trays are the same as R10, same with the rear undershield. The front one being unique to the Caravelle, but from the pics, the differences appear potentially superficial. The weights and u-clamps are the same as R10. The rear radiator panel is unique to the Caravelle, having the heater mounting, and being a lower profile than that in the R10.

I have never seen a spare wheel cover in Australia and would guess that they were not for our country. The other stuff is as per the previous posts.
