Thanks for the replies. Brett it is for an Mi16 conversion using a si 1.6 gearbox. I'm not running power steer.

    I'd recommend an Mi16 box.
The Si box has a massive gap between first and second and a taller FD at 3.94 compared to 4.43
For competition work the 3J is great, you don't notice anything except the much increased traction over the Quaife and open diffs but at light throttle on cornering there is some clunking which you don't get in the Quaife and there is an increased self centre feel to the steering.
    I am using power steering.
Bretts price looks good, especially with the drop in the dollar and they are available now, so a good deal, I may buy another myself!

Not wishing to hijack thread, but is the 3J LSD a viable or better alternative to Quaife for street and occasional track day use?

Is that clunking sound-related or does it translate into a harsh feel as well?

Its a bit harsh, the 3J is for competition use.
Same with Casnells TranX, although his was vastly improved with Penrite semi synthetic oil.
I went a bit further with full synthetic with anti chatter agents but not as good a result!
I have gravel rally settings Brett might be able to tell us if there are more suitable settings for street use.

Graham's Rally differential has 30/90 ramp angles with 65/75 preload which would be the most chattery.
For Road applications 50/90 with 25/35 preload is recommended, and apparently suitable for non-power steering cars.
My Father in law has this one on his street/track 206 and gets chatter on sharper turns.
For Track application 40/90 with 25/35 preload is recommended, I've upped the preload to 65/75.
I had more chatter on the TranX than I currently have with the 3J, but you don't notice chatter in either LSD at full song.
If you are worried about chatter in daily driving I'd recommend a Quaife.

I have one of each LSD available at the current price.
With the drop in the AUD the prices will jump once this stock clears.

    You have another rally diff?
If so I will take one.

OK, we plan to get to Adelaide on the Tuesday evening, will be meeting to discuss the State Bank Rally Rerun with the SA CAMS steward, but should be able to have a combined get together.
