Default 406 D8 (or 406 V6) Gear Box Linkages (gear shift cables) needed urgently

    Morning all,

Recently had an issue with my 406 Coupe, the diagnosis being that the gear box linkages have failed/cable is broken (responsive left to right however loose and unresponsive up and down). I am in need of replacement parts, fairly urgently; my understanding is that to purchase a new part comes equipped with cables, linkages, etc. as one, however I have also been informed that these parts are no longer available “new” (probably an obvious conclusion). Second hand works better for me anyway.

I have been informed that compatibility between the 406 V6 and the 406 Coupe would allow for interchanging of these parts so if this is a more likely avenue then I would appreciate some guidance.

Otherwise, If anyone has one or can point me in the right direction for acquiring one I would appreciate all assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Jeremy

I'll help expand your horizons: The part you need is also the same on the ML5T-equipped diesel 406s (sedans and wagons).

I suspect you'll have MUCH more luck finding one ex-diesel than you will ex-V6.

Also, if you're planning on changing it yourself, you need to remove the front exhaust section, exhaust heat shield and centre console assembly for access.

I appreciate the guidance Scott, hopefully for future readers this can trigger a deeper resource pool. Installation will be by my Peugeot Mechanic here in Newcastle, thanks again for the help.

Surely there are a few V6 wrecks around also these days. Possibly not many manuals I guess...
