Has anybody got an R17 block or engine available in Melbourne?
I might need one for my engine rebuild going on.

    Cheers..>Paul

    R18 is different.

I have a 17TL block here. Pauls car is a TS/Gordini and I can't remember if there the same or not.

17G and 17TL absolutely the same.

18 has tapered liner seats, otherwise interchangeable.

Not sure if 17G/TL liners can take the o-ring seals to fit 18 block, in principle they should but I didn't actually ever check.

There can be minor differences between all these blocks, some external bosses may or may not be drilled and/or tapped depending on car/model/year but shouldn't be a drama to machine to suit.

Don't think you can use 18. We've fitted many 18 piston/sleeve kits to R16 and 17 blocks and the bottom of the block needs to be bored out to take the bigger sleeve. I imagine trying to fit the smaller sleeves to the larger block wouldn't work. Unless Paul wants to go 1647cc, can you get hi top piston that size?

There you go. Always a small detail that can screw you up. Thanks, Dave.

Mecaparts used to have pistons for up to 1800cc.

    Thanks Guys.
I might have got ahead of myself by one day. My current block might yet be ok. Thanks everyone and I'll be in touch depending on the outcome over the next few days.
    Cheers...Paul
