    Default 205 power steer kit

It would seem there is an oversupply of 205 parts at the moment.

What I have is a complete power steering kit from a Si. It includes rack, pump, bottle, pipes, steering colum and all mounting brackets.

I'm about to stick it on Ebay with a low starting bid so if anyone is interested have a look.

I thought 205's were becoming a bit collectable and had a bit of a cult following.
    Seems I was wrong.

Appears there destined to become just another old car.

8 people watched this but not one bid, not even an offer, I'll put it back on for one more try, if it doesn't sell its in the scrap bin and it'll be gone forever.

PAS is the best thing you can do to 205s by far, much more responsive.
I flash around the corner into our street no problems with my Si. In the series 1 GTi it is an effort and the car ends up running wide. On top of that I think that the often talked about problem with lift off oversteer in these cars is simply not being able to apply correction quick enough.
I've never had any handling problem with a PAS 205 whereas I have had a few moments in 405s (both bitumen and gravel) and only escaped by keeping the right foot buried.
By the way, this kit will fit GTis without any modification that I can think of.

Ummm... rather than bin it, why wouldn't you just try a lower eBay start price??

Isn't it cheap enough?? We never even got an offer on it so obviously no one wants it.

One more try on ebay otherwise its scrap metal, either way we sell it

Same story with these Citroen hub caps.

No one watching and no bids so they will be recycled and everyone whinges at me.

Just one of those things where people are becoming more aware of pricing and where to buy such parts. It wont be long before they will be worth more money. The problem, or more the way the culture of 205s are in OZ, is that there are not many people interested in them compared to say the EU. Especially people who are willing to work on the car them selves. Therefore the availability of parts is pretty good as there are more cars than collectors at this point.

I have 2 PAS systems sitting about that I will use one day...

Yep thats the problem. Once apon a time not that long ago we would get $500 for this kit, I thought a $200 starting price is darn cheap, anything less than that and we waisted our time pulling it out.
In hindsight we shouldn't have bothered removing it and just crushed the car as it was and put up with everyone going mad at us.

As it is now, we had a 205 GTi offered to us yesterday, complete car only needed a fuel pump to make it run but I directed it straight to the scrapper because there's no piont us trying to dismantle it.

GTis very rarely come up for sale at super low prices, would have sold for sure.
Agree $200 is cheap, the labour involved in pulling it out is close to that.
I will say again, this is far more worthwhile than an engine transplant.

What do you mean? It has always had the link to ebay from AF, how could I link ebay back to AF?

For 100 bucks it will be scrapped so don't worry about it, doesn't matter anyway as it has a starting bid so its sold, we just need to see what it sells for.

I think the problem may be the mention of fabrication work to the brackets, not neccessary, I've just bolted them straight in.

Ok, interestng. As you know Graham I don't fit them so I just go by what people tell me and someone told me the bracket needed an easy modifacation.

I'll have to change the wording on ebay.

sorry i was refering to the 205 gti you knocked back due to not worth wrecking it. in stead of telling them to send it to scrap yard tell them to get on here or visa versa meaning let us know where it is? i was just thinking out loud.

True I could have done that but you see the last thing I want is other people selling parts on ebay or af.

I just wish I had a big shed (or one of the Victorian clubs owned property with big sheds) that some of the whole cars around at the moment could be stored there out of the weather for later on. A "Friend to Citroen" or "Peugeot" type affair. Put a coffee bar in if you like. I guess you'd still be buying the best of any one model you could, putting it in there until they turn 25 and can go on club plates.

Dave with Ebay and all the listing fees have you tried Gumtree that's free. All the rigamarole to set up listing on Ebay, pay the listing and selling fees, report sales, feedback, it's exhausting and a little demoralizing. I've bought quite a bit of stuff off Gumtree with good results. But still to sell on them. But these days if I'm buying I would always look at their listings. True Gumtree seems to work better locally. All the stuff I've bought (Iphone 4S, ladders, a free Victorian washstand, etc, etc) I've driven to the sellers and picked up in person. Interstate might be trickier but there's always BPay, Paypal, direct deposit outside EBay

Yeah we do. I have stuff on gumtree now, probably should go into it and update everything now that you've reminded me. Gumtree doesn't do auctions like ebay does, but your right ebay is a pain, its so hard to do anything.

The world is definitely turning upside down. It's cheaper to buy four spark plugs, delivered to your door on ebay.co.uk, than it is to drive down to Supercheap and buy them. Sad but true.

I really believe the worst thing thats happened to business in the past 20 years is the internet.
Every industry you speak has the same problem with customers buying online and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

Same new car parts sold by dealers are way overpriced and force people to go online but the truth is everyone (except dealers) have to cut the margins so low just to get sales, the retail clothing industry has taken the biggest hit.
