Guys, Adrian and I have decided not to race the Peugeot in the 300 due to limited testing time and risk damaging the motor. As an alternative I have secured a drive in a MR2 Turbo in the big race. Getting nervous!

Race Technology DL1 with Video sync, I have been using it for years and cannot live wothout it. Peter Taylor went and did his own thing, silly boy, now we cant get calculated rate slip from each other. Oh well.

One more sleep till I head down to Wakefield, this time to drive something very diferent. We have spent some time on the MR2 trying to avoid any reliabilty issues, secured all wiring in the car, protective undertray etc. The car was Dyno tuned by Phill Armour and the results were 330hp at the rear wheels on a very conservative boost.

The weak link is the fuel tank, only 50liters, so looks like 2 pitstops for fuel which means 2 5 minute pitstops, this will limit our strategy for a class win but if we stay consistant and some luck goes our way we should be on the podium in class.

With 47 cars srating the race it will an intresting stint at the start. More of a survival game than a race.

This is the highlight of the year on the club racing calendar, a great weekend with the boys.

    Further updates will come....

My wiring loom is very different (read significantly less) to yours.

Good luck on the weekend but can't wait to rub door to door with your 205. I have sent you a pic of the rear of my car so you can get use to it.

Cam, we finished the race so my 100% finishing record stands. So my CV will read 6 starts and 100% finishing record.

So the facts: Got down to Wakefield on Friday morning to be told the car is overboosting, the woner and his mate spent all day trying to fix the problem. Saturday first practice session I took the car out for a spin, I could only use 10% throttle as the car still over boosting. I had to keep an eye on the boost gage and shift early. The Brakes had too much rear bias so stopping was a nightmare. I did 5 laps and came in. That was it for the weekend. At that stage I decided to be used as reserve driver as I felt it would be too dangerous to drive in a field of 47 cars.

The owner and the second driver decided to run the car as is. I agreed to run as Team manager for the race and if needed drive the last stint. My Pit crew arrived for the Sunday race all ready to go.

Sunday's race was an amazing race, with the favourite being pushed off grid onto the cras during the national anthem due to a fuel leak. First lap a car gets turned down the main straight into the pit wall at full speed. Lap 3 a RX7 RD catches on fire at the fishhook.

Our car started well, and started making positions from the 47th place start. Lap 10 and the first issues, a sticking throttle. A quick pitstop and some greese fixes the problem.

Lap 15: The Mr2 comes to a stand still at the fish hook. Towed back to pits to find the wire had come off at the fuel pump

Lap 35: Intake temp too high, come in to modify engine cover

Lap 40: Car develops a miss...Pit, loose plug on coil 4, we take oportunity for a refuel and driver change

Lap 60: Car is not boostung at all. Car pits . Laptop comes out and I see that the water temp gauge had failed and was readin -127deg. Changed the cold starting setup to min - 127deg, this was long pit stop, car running againg.

Lap 74: Car gets hit by a faster car on the back stretch, spins lose dorian timer. Lose rear bumper down the straight. Car kept going.

Lap 81: Race finishes and the throttle was starting stick again.

What a busy race for us...But persitence kept us in and we received a huge applause by all. We finished in 37th place out of 47 cars, we were the last of the finishers.

The pitt crew did a fantastic job, shame the car did not.

This cars has potential but needs sorting, a frustrating event.

The good news is, I have received other offers now for a drive at Winton 300 and also as Team manager for a top running team that this year was leading the race by 2 laps when a piece of solicone blocked the fuel line.

The AASA endurance series is now a major event in the motorsport calendar with 65 entries received in the first 24hrs of entries being accepted. The race will be tele vised 21st of April on speedweek. I did get interviewed prior to the race hope it makes the final cut.

If you have a trackcar, you should concider this event in the future, it is a great fun cklub level event.
