Default 205 gti 0to100 in 5.5s..Videa with Data overlay

    Hey guys,

I was experimenting last night with my new data analysis software and I saw I can produce a low res video with data overlay. As this was my first attempt and you need to sync the video manually it is a little out of sync, but still a lot of information and fun to watch.

0-100 in a stocking 8v is impressive at 5.5secs, but then again it does weight 750kg now.

I might splurge next pay and get the licence to show full res videos captured with my pressy, a Hero2 GoPro.

Looks good, but why do cars pull away from you on the straight?

Pete, only 106hp at the wheels is the answer.

The video setup is simply a early GoPro mounted to the roof. At the end of the month I will be running my new HD GoPro and also the old one, so will have front and rear view with data overlay.

Thanks for the link it's great fun to watch and amazing modern technology when you think about it. Even low res is good to watch and car sounds great.

That's a pretty lightweight car you've got does it still have a floor and doors and a hatch etc ? : )

Stripped internals, fiberglass bonnet and rear htach, pollycarb windows side and rear. Will get slightly heavier once the 16v goes in, but almost double the HP will balance that out enough :-)

Considering that a standard 205 GTI put out around 130 hp you must have an extremely well tuned 16V engine if you can get 270+ hp from it. Is it going to be normally aspirated or turbo charged? I would expect that you should be able to get down to the 0 - 100 times of a Bugatti Veyron. Your lap times should be reduced significantly as well. Well done on your achievements.

I dont think he will be aiming for, nor need anything like 270hp. At 750kgs, 180 would be plenty, which means only a slighlty tricked up engine. There are a few N/A Mi16's around with 270hp but reliability starts to diminish.

I wasn't saying that he needs 270hp. I was just doing the numbers. Doubling the standard 205 gti hp would make it around 270. I agree the 180hp would be more realistic and certainly enough to make a stripped 205 into a very effective track car. With 205's and 16V motors being relatively cheap you get a big bang for your buck.

It will be interesting to see if any of the more modern froggy cars end up as being cheap and effective track cars as a 16V 205.
