    Default Le Mans 2011

Qualifying - from the Peugeot sport web site:

"With just five tenths separating the top six cars, the qualifying sessions have already ensured this 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take its place in the annals. The battle for pole position was exciting and closely contested in all three sessions, leaving the outcome of this weekend's race hard to predict. On Saturday, the Peugeot 908 no.9 will line up in third position on the starting grid, just in front of the no.8 car, whilst the no.7 car will start from sixth position."

    Default TV ONE coverage

Looks like ONE HD has reasonable coverage again this year, some delayed, some live.

Start late Saturday night, then a break for F1 qualifying and some NASCAR, then long sessions on Sunday morning and afternoon, with delayed finish late Sunday night.

The PVR will be working overtime!

    Default coverage

EuroSport channel on Austar had full 24hr coverage. Recorded the lot on MyStar box. Yet to watch the bits i didn't get to see realtime. Great coverage of a fantastic race. Very emotional end.

Audi clearly had the superior cars and team and deserved the win.
Great to see Peugeots running reliably.

It is annoying that Peugeot always seem to have reliability but no speed. Or speed but no reliability. Most of the time they get beaten by Audi. I would like to know what they keep doing wrong year after year.

Maybe Audi throw more money at it, I don't know what the respective budgets are.
Could have even been Audi 1,2,3 but for those monumental crashes.
The blocking manouvers by Peugeot driver trying to slow the Audi near the end of the race were most unsportsman like and even a dedicated Peugeot fan such that I am, I was disgusted by it.
Great effort for Corvette in Chev's 100th year too. Husband and wife team in a GT40 did well, 3rd in class at finish, mind you only 3 cars finished in that class. Seemed like half the field DNF. One car did the last lap running on half its cylinders.
Commentators were suggesting that the popularity of the event with estimated 250,000 spectators and worldwide TV coverage, would entice more manufacturers to compete. Talk of Porshe comming back.

It is a shame that we have got used to coming second. But the truth is that we can never compete with the speed and reliability of the German marques. They own Le Mans.

Thanks Pugster, wasn't aware of that. Would be nice if the race officials would come down a bit heavier on drivers disregarding blue flags.
