Default Wakefield 300 on a again, 205 getting ready

    Hi Guys,

3rd year in a row and I have entered the 300 again.

    Previous results:

    2008 4th in class
    2009 2nd in class
    2010 ??????????

Its on again on the 27th and 28th of Nov, 39 car field and no more spots available, the biggest field so far in its history. We have some very fast cars entered this year including a BMW M3GTR.

The race is run at Wakefield Park over 300 kms, refeulling and driver changes make it fun. I have much work to do with an engine change underway. Running a stock 8v Series 3 with TBs and haltech. Not the fastest car out there but good enough to be mid field at best.

If you can make it, please come and say hello, we are running the sprint races on the Saturday and the 300 on the Sunday.

Also had a chance to rewirer the car and now running a digitakl dash, very simple setup.

It only gets better for this race....

Speedweek and SPEED will be covering the event with a 1hr special! Hopefully I will get some airtime..

On the engine front, Adrian W is helping me strip down my head and make sure there is no metal around, Perter T has donated a series 3 bottom end. We should have the motor together tomorrow night and in the car over the weekend.

Thanks to all my friends that have helped me get back into the the 300, could not have done it without you.

Great News, the motor was started last night!!! All seems to be well.

The other good news is that Wakefield Park have anounced more catogories for us to compete in, they have the hot hatch and the european marque championship.

All seems to be on track for a great weekend.

    Well what a weekend!!!

The Peugeots had a great weekend with Barry Black in the GTi6 winning Division 4 and 2nd in the European Cup and 9th overall from a 40 car field...Well Done Barry!!!!

We finsihed 3rd in Division 4 and 3rd in the European cup and 17th overall so we had lots of silverware to show the wives to justify why we spend the last 2 weeks locked up in the workshop!!!

Our 8v 205 ran with no issues on the day which was very wet and at stages the track was flooded!!

The Friday and Saturday was very hot and we the pug was hitting 110deg water temps after 4 laps so things were looking grimm. Inspection of the thermostat identified a stuck valve so a new one was thrown in and the car ran at 86 deg all day!!!

Our plan was to run in Division 5 as we were going to run hard semi slicks for the endurance race and thus slower times than our slicks. The semis were arriving on the Sunday so I had to qualify on the slicks, I tried going slow but my first lap I broke out by 0.5secs and thus we ended up running in Division 4. Oh well..........

SBS had also strapped a camera to the roof of the Pug so there will be some good footage of the pug fighting with cars in the wet in the early laps.

Overall a great weekend and taking 2 trophies home is just great bragging....We continue to have a 100% finishing record at the 300 which is just amazing.

The 2011 Wakefield 300 will be help in July so we now have 6 months to start getting ready!!! Bring it on!!!

    Absolutely right Tim.

Adrian W for the late nights drilling out a broken head bolt and bolting the motor together and making fun of me!

Peter Taylor for the free 8v bottom end (with a broken head bolt :-) )

Ashley for a great stint in the car!

Frank for all the help managing the pit garage and refuelling the 3 team cars. Luchly we didnt need 100 liters in the Donut King Commodore.

Bill and Peter for their valuable assistance in diagnosing the overheating problem and radio communications.

Ang and V our lovely partners for their patience the last few weeks.
