    Default alpine rally

had a great time at the alpine rally in lakes entrance with casnell and his 205 gti on the weekend.
the cars were a great perv.
    lancia stratos
    fiat arbarth 131
    lots of 504,404
    monaro
ht holden to name a few
the 205 broke a top engine mount which we made out of layers of thick plastic sheeting and gaffed and cable tied togetther.
it did the rest of the rally like that afyer breaking very early on ,on the first day.
my gti went like a rocket there and back and is a very comfortable car to do long distants in.
the last time i drove a ways was up to canberra in the gti rally car and the seats are not as comfy as the oe seats.
blew out the crap too as the engine is now running as smooth as silk.
heard a strange noise on the way back wich i thought may be oil starved tappits so i stopped to check and an old toilet roll i keep for oil had dropped on to the alternator fins and was making the noise. i was releived.
saw a 205 classic in bairnsdale which was different ,no classic badges and the rear peugeot and 205 gti badges were on the hatch not the panel,
me thinks a respray may have been the order.
got a bit of spectating in which was good.
look out for the gti rally car coming to a rally[no where] near you.-BAZZ

The car looks unreal - those 4x4 tyres don't look so silly either...

Perhaps replace the gti badge with a jeep one though?

    Default faaark!

awesome pix, chris! and yah the car looks frikn crazy.

i cant believe youve still got a rear red reflector on your weekend dirt warrior.

looks extremely difficult to drive a FWD, in the dirt, but looks insanely fun, nonetheless!

Hey there. That was me driving the Abarth. I remember the 205 driving past us beached on the long night stage about 18K's in.

Here's some incar footage from where we went off...we were leading at the time...!

    Cartorque Motorsports - 2005 Alpine Rally - incar footage - off the road(ooops) 2.9M

    Cartorque Motorsports - 2005 Alpine Rally - incar footage - C8 exerpts 4.8M

There'a a link to some other Alpine stuff also...

I'd seriously like to build up a couple of 205 replicas some time too. We were just discussing that a couple of days ago after watching some footage off the net - Niiice....!

    Regards Shawn
Note: Thanks Christian Deligny for sending me the link to this site.

    so thats your fiat then.
did you notice a guy takin piccies with his camera/phone all over your car?
    that was mehttp://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif.
oh by the way, dont make a replica cause they can be picked up for under 5 grand now.
ive seen them go for as little as 2800.
    good cheap start.
throw another 5-8 grand in and youll have a very nice little car for rally.
they are so fun to spin around as well.

it would be good to see another 205 gti in the rallies.

Yes I was wondering why you would need to build a replica - unless it was of a T16...
