If this is true, then this year is their only hope for success.

I think he's jumped ship too early if that is the case.

    He'll be replacing Fisichella.

And Fisi may be racing for Frank. No sh*t

I know it sounds far fetched, but don't forget Webber is still managed by Flavio, and he always wanted webber to drive for him, rather then Fisichella.

It will literally be a driver/team swap.

    It's a 2nd chance for webber I guess.

Already some F1 media websites are reporting the rumour. But as far as I know, it's far more then a rumour.

Me too. But it might be a case of Williams being glad to be rid of him. Or, more likely, Flavio saying "Mark comes here".

    I'd say he'd replace Fisi.

So who's Williams going to have? Heidfeld will prob go to Sauber (replacing Massa going to Ferrari?). They might get Button, but, they might not. Pizzonia?

Both true, Williams are unhappy with Webber and Flavio wants him.

    Stright from F1-live.com

Fisichella and Webber to swap teams?
More rumours as the silly-season hots up

Will these two racers remain put in 2006?

Giancarlo Fisichella started the season in style by winning the opening round of the 2005 Championship in Melbourne, but since then the Italian has been overshadowed by team-mate Fernando Alonso. Speculation now has it that Fisichella could be on his way from Renault to make room for Mark Webber according to Speed.

Webber, like Fisichella, has had something of a trying season to date. Joining BMW Williams at the start of the season many pundits were predicting that the Australian racer would be challenging for race wins and even the title this year. However, after 13 rounds of the championship Webber has just one podium position to his credit.

Webber of course is still managed by Flavio Briatore and the management of Williams are reportedly unhappy with Webber’s race performances in the troublesome FW27 this year compared to those of team-mate Nick Heidfeld.

This time last year it was mooted that Fisichella would be on his way to Williams for the 2005 season, but Renault signed the Italian to partner Alonso after they dropped Jarno Trulli mid-season. Anything is possible in Formula One and certainly Fisichella and Webber have had a disappointing season as attention now switches from the current campaign to the 2006 programme.

With the Jenson Button Williams/BAR saga seemingly set to drag on for some time, the 2006 driver lineup at Williams remains one of rumour and speculation.

Woah - there's something I didnt expect to read.

If it's true it will be good to see how webber does in a decent car. The problem may be if his team mate is world champion he could be outclassed!

In all seriousness, I'm a tad susprised that Webber is moving so soon, but I didn't know about the Flavio connection. Just hope if he does move that he stays put for a few years. Needs to prove himself, I think.

Yeah would be very Valuable to Renault Aus'

I can't really talk much about it here on a public forum, nor give my sources away, but maybe some1 I know is a personal friend of Mark... or maybe not

The battle is more between frank and flavio though.

To give some background, Frank wanted Fisi to drive for him late last year after losing Jensen Button to BAR... Flavio snapped him up first, however flavio has never liked Fisi and was very upset with Frank for snapping webber away from him. Even in the season before webber was driving for Minardi, he was test driving for flavio, and continued to drive for Flavio while driving for stoddart in the Minardi. It was a bit of a shock when he went to williams, but seemed like a good move at the time.

I remember when webber was still in F3000, he was test driving F1 cars for Flavio. It's almost like he's going home...

Webber has upset a lot of ppl in the Williams camp this year, that combined with the fact that williams actually wanted Fisi before Flavio snapped him up, and Flavio wanted webber before Frank snapped him up, means the swap could be a possibility.

Renault sales in AUSTRALIA, are governed to a very large extent to public perception created by NISSAN Australia, not on the whims of BIATORE & F1 Racing

With Renault now controling Nissan worldwide,& Nissan australia owning Renault australia, you can now see the connection between both organisations in australia, through VEHICLE DISTRIBUTORS AUSTRALIA, controlled from TOKYO Nissan HQ..

playing second fiddle is not all that bad... Look at Russell Ingall - he has come a long way since joining Mr Ambrose at SBR in the V8 Supertaxis Championship.

I asked .. what is the public perception created by NISSAN Australia?. Not what the connections are, we know them

These team movements are interesting... Will be interesting to see how accurate this source of yours is n b j.

BDG, there are many threads you could dig out of the Renault forum grave to postulate about Renaults failure here in Aus. But this is the Motorpsorts forum.

Apart from seeing the logos together at the Service Departments, i'd say 1 in 100 people (TOPS) i'd ask, would actually know about Renault owning a major share in Nissan!
Very good for PR to get an Aussie F1 driver into a Renault!!!

When do we ever see a RENAULT advert, not very often bar the occasional GP.

You think advertising will cure Renault Australia's woes? In the first year of sale, Renault spent the most amount of money per car on advertising in this market. In year 2 it was right up there again. That strategy does not appear to be working that well.

Citroen barely advertise and on a volume basis they're one of the most profitable importers in Australia.

Do you have access to profit (financial reports) figures for carmakers Linc?

I'd love the details if you know where I could find them

    cheers,

    Tim.
