Default WRC - Rally of Finland 2019*

Rally of Finland will be run early August

Hayden Paddon will be taking part in the Rally of Finland in M-Sport WRC Ford. I wish him all the best. He lost his WRC drive at the end of 2018.

I don't know on what basis Hayden will be driving in this event, but I have read previously that rent a drive with car and support team is in the vicinity of 200,000 to 250,000 Euros per event in a WRC car.

I'll take odds on a local with a Finnish surname winning the event. Or perhaps a Latvian one.....
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

I going to put this out there I think a meek driver with a passion for smashing Citroen’s will either win it or bin it in the toyboata

That used to be almost given. Not so much in the more recent years, althought I think Lappi, Latvala and Sunninen should be in with a chance.

Between 1951 and 1989, all but four four events were won by Finns. Swedes took the other four events. In 1990 Sainz became the first non Scandinavian to win the event. Between 1991 and 2007 all but two events were won by Finns. Between 2008 and 2018 only five events have been won by Finns and six by non Finns. Four events were won by Ogier (1) and Loeb (3). Recent Finns to win the event were Lappi (2018) and Latvala 2010, 2014 and 15.

I think I would put my money on Tanak. He is blindingly quick and rarely makes mistakes on the limit, much like Loeb was in his heyday.

He's turned over a new leaf. He's only retired once this year in eight events, pearhaps that has hampered his speed as the highest finish is only 4th
