Russel Ingall at the ripe old age of 55 is about to take the wheel of a TCR Audi for the Bend round of the series. He's driven just about everything in his career except a front wheel drive car. Hope he does well!

Surprised he still claims to be 55.

James Moffat got taken out in a big way in FP1 by one of the young wonders aquaplaning (or locking up) at the Bend in the wet and putting the back of the Megane RS up near the front seats........

Not just a young wonder, but the leader of the series!

Will Brown's Hyundai takes out Moffatt's Renault:

    Must have been on slicks.
Let's hope they get it repaired for tomorrow.

Means that he probably had more speed and bigger bang

Interesting point about locking up the front wheels under brakes in the wet on a FWD, engine shuts down and no power steering. I have drivfven a car with power steering out of action, it can be done, but you cant turn the steering quickly, I'd imagine that would get exiting very quickly on a race track at speed.

    Qualifying Saturday morning:

Not only did GRM get Moffatt's Megane ready for the event, Moffatt took Pole at the last minute.

He was one of the cars that left wets on the rear and put slicks on the front to take advantage of a drying track.

Ingall still getting used to the car, came up to about halfway through the field.

    Cheers.

James Moffat's Megane RS pole at Tailem Bend is the first for Renault in the Global TCR competition. History made here!

There is a god! Commendably, the Stewards have seen fit to penalise several instances of bad behaviour during TCR race one at The Bend yesterday. https://www.tcraustralia.com/aaron-c...ace-penalties/

Things didn't work out too well for the two Garry Rogers Megane RS's but they showed plenty of speed, including Chris Pithers high speed rear lock-up into the pit wall!

Jordan Cox, Jordan Cox, Jordan Cox. How good is Jordan Cox! The young guy in his first big race after IPRA, has left a lot of big names in his wake.

It will be interesting to see if he can pull any more drives for the series and whether he can outpoint the leaders......

Shouldn't be too hard. He made poor old Russell Ingall look fairly ordinary. I assumed he was part of Wall Racing for the remainder of the series.

I have to agree and disagree Pete. He is a very good driver but also very reckless. He has caused many a near miss and left many drivers angry. He drives like he is getting a gold set of teeth after a race. There is little respect given to anyone at anytime no matter where he is on the circuit.

Its great to watch and I do admire the talent but I would not want to be racing along side him in any way shape or form.

If he was that good he would already have a drive and be getting paid. And probably knocked out at the same time. Did you see him in the 1200 at Bathurst a few months back trying to overtake the whole field on the grass on the first lap on mountain straight? Idiotic driving. No doubt he is talented. Im sure Ingall was like that years ago!

My failing memory seems to recall a year when Ingall was punting people off little too often and at around half season he was leading the championship, but the second half of the season he got punted off often enough so he didn't win the title.

What I am finding interesting about TCR, is that no-one seems to get up front and run away from the others. Even with the pro drivers like Tander, yes they get up front, but then someone else is up there as well, and often able to get past. Is it the front tyres going off from being pushed too hard? We've had a couple of cars coming from way back on the grid, but then they seem to fade off a little. Anyway, it's making interesting racing. And the young drivers like Cox and Will Brown I think will be appealing to a new generation of followers, all good for this category.
James Moffatt to me is an in-between generation, while Tander and Ingall are the grey nomads, each bringing their own group of followers to TCR.

    Cheers.

According to my source, Jordan Cox paid for the drive.

I read the Wall's web site news release on Cox's driving for the team. The way it was worded in relation to any future involvement had me wondering if it was a paid drive. Thanks.

Not uncommon, to pay for a steering wheel that is. I mean if you could wouldn't you?

Surely, if you were the real deal, people would pay you? Maybe I'm missing something.....

I have no issue with that, if one has the means, take whatever road is available.

If one runs their own car one also pays for it .
