Ferrari are working on getting extra 40 hp from their 2018 engine. Italian media are reporting that the engine has not lasted 7 race simulations once yet. New rules in 2018 require that engines last 7 races as opposed to the previous 5 races before penalties apply.

Ferrari Engine Dept has stopped their co-operative work with AVL on their engines. Ex Mercedes engine specialist Wolf Zimmermann has left Ferrari. Corrado Iotti, who has previously worked on Ferrari Sports cars has taken over the engine dept at Ferrari.

Ferrari is rumoured to be slightly extending their wheelbase on the 2108 car and Mercedes will be shortening theirs. This will still leave the Mercedes wheelbase the longest in F1.

Ferrari are scheduled to present their 2018 cars 22 February and the winter testing starts in Barcelona four days later.
