    Default F1 - Driver rumours

Red Bull are willing to release Carlos Sainz to rival team for 7 million Euros. Red Bull have figured that that is the cost of educating Sainz over the last five years. Seems like trouble in paradise.

Both Vettel and Raikkonen have contracts with Ferrari only until the end of this year.

Vettel has not signed with Ferrari for 2018 as yet. The sticking point is rumoured to be money, with Vettel wanting similar money that Alonso is getting which is considerably more than what Ferrari are offering. Ferrari are also rumoured to want to sign a three year deal but Vettel prefers 1 year contract. Expect a decision before the Italian GP in beginning of September

Mercedes have one year deal with Bottas for 2017 ( and I believe 1 year option), but are holding off making the decision. I think it's fair to say that Bottas has surprised most experts being third on the drivers championship table behind Vettel and Hamilton. He is only 22 points behind his team mate and 23 points from the leader with half year still left to run, so he is a genuine title contender. Apparently Merc are holding off any decision to see what Vettel does and how long a contract he signs with Ferrari before they commit with Bottas. Wolff has previously indicated that keeping Bottas is a no brainer, but.... got a leave your options open

Sergio Marchionne stated to Italian press at Hungary, that he wanted to keep Vettel/Raikkonen driver pairing for next year. He thinks they work well together and does not want to change that.

He is the person at Ferrari who makes the driver decisions.

    Default Alonso rumours

Alonso has made it clear that he wants a competitive car next year.

His options are limited. Door at Ferrari has closed.

Renault car is unlikely to be competitive next year and Renault is unlikely to be able to afford Alonso's current massive salary

It would seem continuing at McLaren or retirement may be his two options.

Some rumours have surfaced that Williams may be considering making him an offer. They can't afford his massive salary either, but Mr Stroll Senior may be able to??

Six years ago I had an android phone with a free F1 live timing app, I just added the official F1 app to my iPhone but you have to pay for the live timing function.
Does anyone use or know of a free live timing app?

This is the best I can do free - https://www.formula1.com/en/f1-live.html

It only gives times and the txt feed that the pits get

The other option is to get a feed from one of the UK channels. They tell me one needs to use a VPN to trick the service into thinking you are in the UK. Cant tell you how safe they are as I haven't used them

Free to air has tonights F1 race around 10pm at least in Brisbane.

Now that Ferrari have signed Vettel, this should clear the road for Merc to sign Bottas for next year.

    Hi,
I gather the head of Red Bull hinted that Aston Martin may be interested in getting into the F1 engine business, and supply them with engines.

    Regards,
    John

That's interesting, but I think Honda have shown how tough it is to produce a competitive power units in F1.

Niko Rosberg has been negotiating on behalf of Kubica.

No longer a rumour, since it has bee confirmed.

Carlos Sainz will race with Renault from USA round onward, which leaves Mr Palmer without a F1 seat.

Brendon Hartley (27) will drive his first F1 race in USA next week end with Toro Rosso. He was previously in the Red Bull junior program. In 2008/9 he was Toro Rosso reserve driver. In 2015 he was racing Porsche with Mark Webber.
