    Default Kubica for Williams

Rumours claim Williams have signed Kubica. Williams has refuted the claim, but Kubica will take part in Pirelli tyre test post season in Abu Dhabi in a Williams, so maybe they just haven't signed him yet.

    Read all about it here:-

Despite Reports, Williams F1 Denies Having Signed Robert Kubica - The Drive

October article on earlier Williams test by Kubica

Edit: Could the $$ be coming from Polish oil company Lotos. The company lists itself as a partner of Robert Kubica? - https://www.lotos.pl/en/1228/p,871,g..._robert_kubica

Three driver positiosn remain to be confirmed. One at Williams to replace retiring Massa. Neither of the driver positions an Sauber have been confirmed for 2018. The delay with Sauber announcement/decision could be related to their negotiations with securing Alfa Romeo as a major backer for 2018.

Mika Salo has been in discussions with Williams, trying to negotiate a drive for Russian, Sergey Sirotkin. Salo believes he is close securing the drive, but believes Williams are likely to choose either Sergey Sirotkin or Robert Kubica.

I wonder which driver's sponsor will have deeper pocket.

Nico Rosberg recently joined the Kubica management team. Kubica has been backed in the past by Polish petro dollars, whilst Sirotkin has been acing for SMP Racing, owned by Russian money man Boris Rotenberg. Salo works for SMP Racing

Sergio Marchionne hinted in an interview that 2018 is likely to be Kimi's last year with Ferrari and he is likely to be replaced by young talent. Kimi is 38, so maybe it is the time. He was fourth this year in the drivers title.

Apparently Kubica has a 7-8 Million budget to bring to Williams, but the Russian has 20 million budget, no wonder the rumour mills have Kubica on the outer for the second drivers job at Williams.

Daniil Kvjatin, who was fired late last year by red Bull has been hired by Ferrari as their new development driver. Not too many drivers in F1 get a second chance, lets see if he can do anything with it. Raikkonen is 38 and I cant imagine he has too many years left in F1.
