    Default F1 - Austria - Hamilton - 5 place grid penalty

Lewis Hamilton is set to take a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's race at Austria's Red Bull Ring circuit.

Mercedes were forced to change the Briton's gearbox ahead of the event - and, as the previous unit had not completed six consecutive events, Mercedes and Hamilton will inevitably be penalised.

Hamilton fastest ahead of Vettel after FP2 completed.

Pardon my laziness for not trying to work it out for myself, but do you know what time it is on?

    Thanks

I didn't see it in the end, but Hamilton must be very cheesed off about the gearbox thing.
Seems Hamilton does have the edge on Bottas as a driver, but there isnt much in it. It wouldn't take much in the way of these sorts of mishaps to see him pipped again by the 'number 2' driver. If not by Vettel. Hats off to Bottas for that amazing start, and completely 'clean' race. He seems to be really good at staying out of trouble when in the thick of it with other cars.

    Regards,
    John

Finally got around to watching the 1 hour highlights of the race.

Bottas made a lightning start, with Vettel complaining (no not Vettel surely?) of jumping the start. The matter was investigated and Bottas was cleared. I watched the start of replay frame by frame, it seemed to me a clean start, interesting bit was that to my eyes, both Bottas and Vettel moved off the line very much the same time, but Bottas just hooked up and left him. He led the whole race (except couple of laps after he did tyre change until other did the same).

Max bogged it down on the grid and when he finally made it to the first corned, was taken out with Alonso by Kvyat who arrived in the first corner in a cloud of dust failing to sufficiently retard speed and ended playing ten pin by taking out Alonso and Max. Interesting that it was Max who took over Kvyat's seat the Red Bull car ad Kvyat was demoted to the Red Bulls second team. Hmmm. Poor Max seems to be getting lots of bad Karma lately.

Nice to see Dan on the podium again, which puts him some 62 point ahead of his team mate. The smiling assassin seems to be getting the good Karma.

With the possible exception of Raikkonen's car
