Default F1 - Briatore looking for a new drive for Alonso for 2018

Briatore was seen in with Wolffin and Lauda in Azerbaijan.

Rumours have Briatore looking for new drive for Alonso for next year and both Ferrari and McLaren are in his sights. They are the two teams that are on top of the game at the moment. Red Bull and Force India can excel from time to time, but neither is at the front consistently enough at present to win the title

Wonder if either Hamilton or Vettel have clauses in their contracts to veto co-drives for the team. It would be safe guess that both would rather keep their current co-drivers.

F1 is all about catch-up. Teams do catch up. There is no reason to suspect Mercedes will continue to dominate under the current regs. Ferrari and Renault powered teams are closing the gap rapidly. Nothing could be better than tipping Mercedes out of the top two and making it a three or more way fight, and it's happening.
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

I might act like an idiot, and I might look like an idiot, but don't let that fool you: I really AM an idiot!

If Alonso did replace Räikkönen, it would be the second time, but I suppose Räikkönen can hold on to the knowledge he has won the title in a Ferrari and Alonso has not.

The other question is how critical role does the driver play in the car development. If it is critical, has Alonso failed twice (Ferrari & McLaren) and Räikkönen had some success twice (Ferrari & Lotus)

Alonso may be keen to go back to Ferrari, but according to Sergio Marchionne, Ferrari are not interested in having Alonso back. Marchinne however did say that Vettel is welcome to continue with the team if he so decides. Seems fairly clear to me.
