Default Cam 85s Si/GTi hits the (dirt) track again!

Well I bought this car from Cam 85 a few months back, see ad here
    92 Si/Gti/club car for sale

I did a bit of a clean up on the paint, scraped off much of the clear coat with a razor blade, fitted a better bonnet of matching colour, fitted standard GTi front springs as it was to be used for Autocross and took heaps of stuff out of the interior, pretty light now!
Michael Ozzie and I entered it in the first round of the VCAS autocross series at Pakenham on Sunday. As Cam and others have said this car handles just great and we both had a ball, times were between 10 th and 20th fastest out of 74 entries.
However, we made a mistake by loading up the car on the trailer too early as there was a surprise 4th run and the resulting 4 second penalty (as I couldn't drop the slow first run - best 3 out of 4) took me from a likely 11th to 23rd O/R. Worse for Michael as he couldn't drop the run where he hit two markers.
Not to worry though, the car went great, very competitive for a stock standard Si engine, thanks for towing it Michael, anytime you need a car for an event let me know and we'll do it again.

By the way the car steered a lot more precisely at the standard ride height, so take this into account if you are thinking of lowering your 205. Also, this car was dropped around 50mm and was bottoming out on the bump stops on bitumen roads.

    Great story!

The car was a bit low. Was fun on a track for sure! Ive always thought they handle at closer to OE spec unless modified.

Glad it went well. Any pictures?

2 flags? Not that it matters, but I only saw one. Haha. Only picture I had as it was stationary. Thanks graham for preparing a great car. With a little extra work, it could certainly be a class contender.
