    Default F1 - Mexico - spoiler alert

    Qualifying results

    1/ Hamilton
    2/ Rosberg
    3/ Verstappen
    4/ Ricciardo
    5/ Hulkenberg
    6/ Raikkonen
    7/ Vettel

Raikkonen damaged his engine during qualifying.

Rosberg only got the second spot at the last moment of qualifying

Both Red Bulls on second row

Palmer failed to qualify the Renault but will start from the pit lane. His tub was found to be damaged (had a crack) resulting in a rebuild of the spare tub. Current rules do not permit spare cars but teams can bring additional chassis to be built up to race car when chassis is damaged.

I was going to ask what on earth the SMH meant by the term "under-braking" (as in "Vettel later copped a 10-second penalty for under-braking in an incident involving Ricciardo") in their report on the Mexico GP . Surely "under-braking" would result in over-shooting!!

However I found the answer here:
Home | Live Scores & Latest News | Fox Sports

The phrase should have been "changing line under braking", which makes a lot more sense. Apparently the only way to stop Max Verstappen from blocking others from passing him under brakes was to change the rules!!! Interesting that both Max V. & Sebastian V. got penalised for this, allowing our Daniel into 3rd place!!

    Cheers

    Alec

    Hang on, first it was
    1 Ham
    2 Ros
    3 Ver
    4 Vet
    5 Ric

    then it was
    1 Ham
    2 Ros
    3 Vet
    4 Ric
    5 Ver

and then three hours later they come up with your final standings.

Yeah, not what I would call exemplary race.

PS - I can only imagine, Verstappen after the race, waiting for the award ceremony in the back room only to be told to get his stuff and leave.

Apparently the race director is disinclined to award time penalties to be served in the last five laps of the race, according to the live TV I was watching....
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

Great to see Verstappen taking the opportunity to improve the high esteem in which he is held by everyone else in F1
